Congleton
Title
Congleton
Description
Congleton Golf Club can date its origin to a meeting held on the 22nd October 1898 with the local Member of Parliament Mr W . Bromley Davenport becoming its First President and Mr T Marston its First Captain. The first ever competition was held on 13th May 1899 with 14 players taking part due to what was described as inclement weather. The move to the current site of the golf club was circa 1907 due to the land at the old site becoming unsuitable. Many changes have taken place over the ensuing years to the layout of the course to its current demanding test of golf in a picturesque area of Cheshire
