Title

Wilmslow G.C.

Description

Founded in 1889, The Wilmslow Golf Club is a parkland course situated just outside Wilmslow, in the picturesque rural surroundings of Great Warford. It has a current total membership of 652 active members, and has had only 4 long serving Professionals since the turn of the C20th.

Design changes by James Braid in the 1930's has made the course a true challenge, and has been the venue for a Regional Qualifier for The Open, the Greater Manchester Open and Martini International in the 1980's and The EGU Ladies Amateur Championships in 2018.

Many of the holes were converted for agricultural use during both World Wars, and the furrows are still visible to this day. The lounge roof was used by the A.R.P.as a lookout station for incoming German bomber raids on Manchester.

The Wilmslow Golf club has been described as "an informal, formal club" and proud of its history.
