Birchwood G.C.

Title

Birchwood G.C.

Description

Birchwood Golf Club was promoted by the Warrington New Town Development Corporation and initially envisaged as a golf hotel and country club. The Irish golf course designer T.J.A. McAuley was commissioned to design the parkland course with its imaginative use of water hazards as a notable feature. The course opened as a propriety course in September 1979, but quickly migrated to become a member’s club from August 1983 onwards. The course has matured into an impressive Par 72 parkland course of 6605 yds from the back tees, with 8 par 4s, 5 par 3s and 5 par 5s, and is considered a great test of golf requiring all 14 clubs in the bag.
