Avro golf course is a hidden gem, tucked away at the end of Old Hall Lane in Woodford. Starting out as a practice area for golfers from the BAe factory, it was gradually developed by the members and became recognised as an official 9 hole course by the E G U in 1980. Since then it has been further developed by the members supporting our Greenkeepers and is now one of the most attractive and friendly courses in the area offering a challenge to the best of golfers. Membership of this great little club is open to everyone – of all ages and abilities with membership categories for both social and competitive golfers.
Although nominally a 9 hole course, we have 10 greens which are kept in superb condition , as well as 18 white Tee positions. The holes vary in length between 120yds and 500yds, with the usual eclectic mix of hazards – bunkers, ditches, water and trees to complicate matters !
