Description

Sandiway is proud to share its’ centenary with CUGC. It was designed by 1912 Open Champion Ted Ray, improved in 1925 by the renowned Harry Colt and enjoyed strong connections with ICI in its’ early years. The freehold was purchased from Lord Delamere in 1983 and it has long been acknowledged as one of the best inland courses in the north, hosting many national and international championships. It is regarded by many as the spiritual home of CUGC, regularly hosting their committee meetings, matches and championships.
Sandiway has nurtured many County and International players, both men and women, and must be unique providing 3 national Presidents namely John Bennett (EGU 1997), Sue Bennett (EWGA 2002) and Nigel Evans (EG 2015).
