Title

Chester Golf Club

Description

Chester Golf Club was formed in 1901 and was known then as The Bache G.C., located on the Bache Hall Estate on the outskirts of Chester. A few years later, the landowner decided to sell the site and the Club had to search for a new location. Eventually, in 1913, the members agreed to move to a site in Curzon Park. At the same time, they changed the Club’s name to Curzon Park Golf Club. Many members felt the word Chester should be incorporated in the name and in 1923 the Club became known as Chester (Curzon Park) Golf Club. A simple change to Chester G.C. was not possible because, at that time, there was another Club called Chester G.C. located at Sealand. After the Second World War, this Club closed down and consequently it’s name became available. In 1967 the member of the Club decided to drop the words Curzon Park from it’s name and to be known simple as Chester Golf Club. This name has remained to the present day.
