Title

Alderley Edge G.C.

Description

Alderley Edge G.C. was originally formed in 1907 as Fulshaw G.C. by a group of local, mostly novice, golfers.
They had secured leases on the land known as Butterfly Bank which had been the site of the original Wilmslow G.C. before they moved to their current course.
The club name was changed to Alderley Edge G.C. in 1923, shortly after a re-design of the course. Harold Humphreys, founder of the UMBRO business and a stalwart of Cheshire golf, started his golf at Alderley and was its youngest Captain at the age of 36.
Alex Hay referred to the extremely warm welcome he was given at Alderley Edge in his autobiography, and the club is proud that its nature remains unchanged. With a scenic, undulating course that has fine views to "The Edge", Alderley guarantees enjoyable golf to members and visitors alike.

The images show the original pavilion, previously used by Stockport Golf Club at their Woodsmoor course.
Also an aerial view from 1960 and the 6th green
